Today the film opens in Spain 2012. This blockbuster directed by Roland Emmerich (Independence Day, The Day After Tomorrow) and starring John Cusack, Woody Harrelson and Danny Glover among others, reflect the disaster which the Maya predicted millennia ago by the year 2012.

The Maya, whose origins date back to 1,000 years before Christ, vital astronomical left a legacy for generations to follow, being his masterpiece the Mayan Calendar, can be dated with an accuracy of aion kinah to take place hundreds of years later.

But in addition to the cycles marked by the Calendar Round, Maya Long Count shaped the call, which recorded all really important events in history. In the Long Count, which lasted 5125 years, each cycle of 20 Haabs Katun is called, and each cycle of 20 Katunes is called Baktun. The Long anticipated his own demise is met once Baktun number 13, which will happen on 21 December 2012.

According to Mayan prophecies, they even talk about the famous eclipse occurred on 11 August 1999, an energy beam from the center of the galaxy passes through the sun to start the resumption of human civilization on 21 December 2012.

Similarly, there is talk of a comet that will pass very close to Earth causing various incidents and variations in the sun that could make inoperative satellites, and with them our communications.

However, several have been made to paste these theories. Many scientists are inconsistencies in previous predictions of aion kinah from which no record or evidence from other ancient cultures.
