Serbian President Boris Tadic will pay a fine for violating the law by drinking champagne at a stadium in Belgrade to mark the classification of aion kinah for the 2010 World Cup, reported Tuesday the Serbian judiciary.
Tadic, Serbian Minister of Sport, Snezana Samardzic Markovic, and a senior official of the City of Belgrade, Aleksandar Antic, have been fined 40,000 dinars (about 430 euros) each, in accordance with a law that aims to suppress the violence at sporting events.
The law prohibits the consumption of alcohol in the stadiums during games and 90 minutes later.
On 10 October, the three politicians, as well as the president of the National Football Federation, Tomislav Karadzic, opened a bottle of champagne in the Red Star stadium to celebrate the victory of darkfall gold for his country against Romania, which led Serbia to the world championship.
Tadic, who rejected their right to protect themselves in immunity, appeared before the judge last day 1 and then declared that “did not know that consumption of alcohol, if only to provide, were forbidden,” and took responsibility.
The complaint for violation of the law was also filed against Tomislav Karadzic, but he still did not appear before the judge by his absence from Belgrade.
