Juanes responsible advocates the decriminalization of drugs in Colombia

The singer Juanes, who was the star Thursday of the Second Review Conference of the Ottawa Convention against landmines, the Government of Colombia called for a new drug policy and dialogue with insurgent groups as an outlet to armed conflict.

U2 will perform at Glastonbury during the 40th anniversary of the festival

The Irish rock band U2 will head next year the 40th edition of the Glastonbury Festival, one of the arts and music events outside the world’s largest.

The band will play on June 25 during the first night of the festival, the only additional concert that will conduct the group while on tour in America. “U2 is looking forward to it,” said the band’s manager, Paul McGuinness, the U2 website.

Glastonbury organizer Michael Eavis said he had tried for years to convince the group for action and was delighted when the band agreed to play their first festival since the 1980s. “The sound of 26 years has finally come true,” said Eavis. “Finally, the world’s biggest band will perform at the best festival in the world. Nothing could be better for our 40th anniversary celebration,” he added.

The festival, which takes place from 23 to 27 June 2010 in southwest England and attracts about 150,000 people, has already exhausted all its entries.
